The Beacon

Welcome

Headteacher' blog

Spring is a super metaphor, not just representing the season and hopefully banishing the long grey winter, but more so representing the leaps forward we have been taking in school. We have been working hard on our transition to the evidence for learning progress tracker so most pupils’ journeys will be celebrated in pictures and statics (hard facts) on what they are doing well at. We have this in different formats at the moment, but we have taken on board the great feedback from you in the classes piloting evidence for learning, especially the type of meaningful feedback we can provide in reviews and share with you. What struck me in pupil progress conversations with every teacher this week was the depth of information available and utilised to explore every avenue and detail of learning, they really do know the pupils very well and were exploring areas to take some strong elements of learning and keep pushing it forward to exceptional. On the back of this, all leaders have been through a research and development training programme and as a result under Ali Coles tutelage we are taking some curious questions relating to the school community and turning them into research projects – if there’s not a pathway that exists we will create it! After all, your children, our pupils only get one shot at education and we remain determined to ensure its cutting edge and the best it can be. Look out for our pupils working directly alongside Hat Hats in Radnor Park, the Beacon Beans initiative will see our pupils firmly showcased in the hospitality industry! Have a super Easter break.
